Description

Style of John Bryce, late 19th early 20th century, 2-storey,
U-plan range opening onto walled courtyard; rubble with
tooled dressings; tooled ashlar copes. Conical stair tower,
with bell-cast, conical roof projects from south gable
of stable, with 4 bargeboarded lucarnes pierced by pigeon
flight holes, bellcast fish-scale slate roof and cast-iron
weathervane. Pedimented dormers break-wallhead above range.
Second drum tower with conical fish-scale and bellcast roof
flanks entrance with pair square ashlar gate piers with
moulded pyramidal caps.

Statement of Interest

Appears in present form by 2nd ed. OS (circa 1905). Probably

replaced the simple L-plan range without enclosing court

which shows on 1871 1st ed. OS.
