Description

SCHOOLHOUSE: later 19th century, single storey and attic W
facing 3-bay dwelling. Rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.
Centre door; 2-canted dormers; 2- and 4-pane glazing; coped
end stacks; slate roof. Plaque inscribed WS and decorated
with carved leaf at S gable.
SCHOOL: dated 1903. Rectangular, built against N gable of
schoolhouse to form L-plan; single storey school, with long
4-bay N elevation; rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.
Off-centre corniced entrance in E gable; large tripartite
lights W gable; slightly projecting gabled wallhead stack in
centre N elevation with flanking windows; cross set in
chimney gablet; decorative cast-iron apex finials; slate roof
with decorative pottery ridge and ridge ventilators.
