Description

Rubble-walled enclosure with cast-iron gates. Typical ancient burial ground terraced into side of Kirk Hill, consisting of rectangular area of raised ground enclosed by low wall to create higher ground level within ? retaining wall collapsed in part to S. Burial ground was formerly hub of Coldstone parish prior to amalgamation with Logie parish in late 18th century to from present Logie Coldstone parish centred upon Newkirk, which is equidistant between 2 ancient burial grounds of Logie and Coldstone.

Site contains numerous gravestones from 18th and 19th centuries ? earliest legible gravestone dated 1748. Antiquity of site is suggested by Coldstone Cross (Scheduled Monument), a recumbent stone to centre of enclosure.
