18th and 19th centuries. Principally 3 ranges about open
courtyard, detached block to NW beside road. Rubble-built
with ashlar dressings; mainly whitewashed; slate roofs.
LONG COURTYARD WEST RANGE : dated 1732 on chamfer-margined
doorway, but extended to S and ranges to N and to W
(including sawmill) added late 18th - mid 19th century. Tall
loft storey below eaves, but ground floor built into bank
along W long wall (ie at rear). Archway to court, and series
of square loft openings.
EAST RANGE : early 19th century; 2 levels below eaves. 2
3-bay houses at N end formed from steading late 19th century,
with gabled attic windows breaking through eaves; archway at
S and doorway with 2 doors within.
NORTH RANGE : earlier 19th century; adjoining similar-height
E range; gate lintel spans narrow gap to link with W range.
Implement shed with 5 lintelled tall (circa 10' high) bays.
Built against bank to S.
DETACHED BLOCK : (? hay barn): rectangular-plan; 6x2 bays,
with piended roof supported on red ashlar piers. Openings
mostly louvered, those on flank to roadside with fireclay
ventilators.
