Description

18th century farmhouse with early 19th century additions and alterations. 2 storeys, 3 main blocks to house arranged in

compact rectangular group. 3-bay main elevation to N, narrow

gabled rear wing forming L-plan, both of 18th century origin.

Further broader gabled rear wing of early 19th century date

in re-entrant with bow window to E. Painted rubble

throughout.

N elevation with string basecourse, raised polished quoins

and margins. Steps to Roman Doric pedimented porch, door with hexagonal-pane glazed fanlight. Tripartite windows (probably

19th century alterations) flank door, single light to 1st

floor with widened window above porch with concrete jambs.

All small pane sash windows. Slate roof with raised skews,

skewputts, tall corniced end stacks. Single-storey addition

to right with modern dormers obscuring most of W elevation.

E wing with full-height 3-light bow window.

INTERIOR: triple-arch pendant screen fronts dog-leg stairway.

1st floor drawing room to E block with good timber panelling,

carved Corinthian pilasters to mullions and elaborate

fireplace.
