Statement of Interest

See also list description for nearby Auchencloy Monument.

The Covenanters had a significant impact on religion and politics in 17th century Scotland. In 1684 MacMichael murdered a curate of Carsphairn Church who was believed to have been betraying the names of the Covenanters to Graham of Claverhouse. MacMichael and others escaped to Auchencloy where they were tracked down by Claverhouse and killed.

Owned by Forestry Commission Scotland.
