Description

Later 19th century. Broad-eaved 2-storey villa with 3-storey
square entrance tower at NW corner. Roughly coursed and
squared whinstone with contrasting ashlar dressings and
raised quoins; 1st floor windows mostly with gabled dormer
heads. Tower has shouldered N-facing doorway in castellated
shallow porch, corbelled and crenellated parapet, engaged
angle turret continues upwards as cap house, with leaded
bell-cast and finialed roof.
Remaining N-facing bays separated by chimney breast. Right
gable on E and on S elevations similarly treated with main
roof carried over 2-storey canted window in right gable.
Bracketted eaves; spike finials; roofed with graded slates.
Plain W wall, also faced in whinstone, where W wing formerly
adjoined.
Coach house and kennels to SW are similarly detailed. Good
corniced square panelled gatepiers to N, with cast-iron
gates; plainer piers and pedestrian gate at S.
