Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house with rear wing later 19th century doubling size of earlier house.

ORIGINAL HOUSE: rubble with red sandstone window margins and rusticated quoins centre bay advanced. Late 19th-century boldly projecting square corniced single storey porch with fluted Doric portico. Double-leaf

panelled doors with egg and dart moulding. Ground floor windows tripartite with cornice, enlargements of late 19th-century. 1st floor windows single light with raised margins. All sash and case windows with small pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes.

E elevation with 2-bay early 19th-century part, late 19th-century wing with 2-storey canted window to right, steps to double-leaf partially glazed door at left with large astragalled fanlight, bracketted projecting porch/lintel.

Eaves cornice throughout, blocking course to N wing. Piended slate roofs, corniced axial stacks, octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: Good cantilevered stair with decorative cast-iron balusters with bas-relief medallions. Good cornice work throughout, especially to drawingroom with cherubic processional frieze. Shutters and panelled doors all

original.

WALLED GARDEN: Large walled garden to NE, garden wall rubble, partly brick-lined with flat sandstone coping. Lectern type sundial to centre with metal dial and gnomon on sandstone pedestal.
