Description

Early 19th century. Square rubble slightly battered base
surmounted by rubble cylindrical tapering harled windmill
tower; Tower coated with modern harl. Base of tower fronted
by single storey rubble lean-to.
Arched interior revealing 2 round-headed narrow openings
leading to square wallhead. Gutted.

Statement of Interest

Reputed to incorporate remains of 12th century church. Farm

steading, of which the windmill is the centre piece, now

gutted and not included in listing. Similar windmill

incorporated in farm Steading appears in J C Loudon's

ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF COTTAGE, FARM AND VILLA, ARCHITECTURE

(1846), pp.471-3.
