1679, rebuilt 1781. Small, rectangular-plan, crowstepped chapel with small graveyard. Snecked rubble with squared quoins and dressed ashlar margins. Gothic window. Chamfered arrises.
NW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: wide boarded timber door abutting eaves at centre bay.
SW ELEVATION: gabled elevation with pointed-arch window (see Notes) to centre.
SE (GRAVEYARD) ELEVATION: small square window to right of centre.
Fixed glazing, stained glass to SW. Graded grey slates. Ashlar-coped crowsteps.
INTERIOR: moral monuments and small lectern sundial of late 17th century type with 1890 inscription to 'PH' (Peter Hay) and 'MS' (Marjory Scrymegour) at NE.
Ecclesiastical building in occasional use for family Christenings and weddings. Rebuilt in 1781 after destruction by John Knox. The SW window contains a 16th century stained glass panel from Eton depicting a Tudor rose. An early photograph of about 1843 shows a thatched roof. A chapel dedication to St Martin is recorded in a Charter of 1633, possibly an earlier chapel on the site or nearby. Megginch Castle estate includes Gothic Arch, Icehouse, Kennels Cottage, Kingdom Farmhouse, North Lodges, Stables (with Dovecot), Walled Gardens, Wardheads and West Lodge all listed separately.
