Description

Dated 'R 1818' in entrance hall, incorporates part of
house of 1766 at back. James Gillespie Graham? Large
Tudor gothic single-storey villa, outstanding of its
kind, red and black rubble with ashlar dressings,
broad-eaved piend roof, all sashes have perpendicular
traceried heads. N. front has splay angles corbelled to
square, centre projected with 3-window canted bay of
lancets, side windows only 2 panes wide, 1-4 centre
arched window either side; N. part of W. front 2-
window and centre advanced entrance bay 4-centre
arches; 2-window S. section square headed windows with
hoodmoulds. Interesting interior, good gothic doorcases
throughout, plain ceilings, octagonal library long
central hall lit by twin oculi, small dining room
also lit by oculus. Some good original grates.
