Description

Mid 19th century L-plan 2-storey and attic mill. Coursed pink grey rubble granite with pinnings. Lying-pane glazing to windows, some of the casement type with timber mullions.

E ELEVATION: 4-bay with sunk ground floor, ground banked to steps and loading platform from 1st flor door (for the despatch of husked grain to the main mill across the road).

W ELEVATION: projecting 2-by 2-bay ganle and lean-to to N.

S GABLE: octagonal cast-iron axle only of overshot wheel in ashlar wheelpit.

Slate roof, gabled and piended.

Interior not seen.

Rubble-built boundary wall to rear.

Lade approaches from other side of burn on a series of mass conrete supports (wooden launder now missing).

Statement of Interest

Served to remove husks from grain which was then carted to larger mill across the road, the latter demolished in 1977, execept for the wheel pit and hub of a mid breast cast-iron wheel (not listed).
