Mid 19th century; additions late 19th century. 2-storey villa considerably extended to form irregular-plan shooting lodge. Original building, painted stugged coursers with ashlar dressings, grey slate roof; additions, stugged and snecked buff and red rubble sandstone, ashlar dressings, grey slate roof. Original building: base course, margined angles with corbels supporting overhanging eaves, corniced stack bases formerly with octagonal stacks now with terracotta cans uniform with later stacks; single, bi- and tripartite margined windows with timber sash and case glazing, some with corbelled cills and bracketted cornices, gableheaded dormerheads.
Additions: mostly 12-pane sash and case windows with chamfered jambs, segmentally-pedimented dormerheaded windows; ashlar-coped skews with skewblocks, corniced stacks with uniform terracotta cans.
FRONT ELEVATION: door with fanlight and sidelights to centre partly masked by flat-roofed porch with moulded basket-arch doorcase and corbelled cornice to re-entrant angle, small 4-pane window above, bipartite window to ground floor right with single dormerhead above, 4-light corniced and canted window with flat roof to slightly advanced gable at left, single window above.
LEFT RETURN ELEVATION: original building to right, tripartite window to ground floor, single dormerhead above; addition to left, 2 windows to ground floor, 2 dormerheads above.
RIGHT RETURN ELEVATION: original gable to left, tapered and stepped outshot chimneybreast to centre; addition to right, window to ground floor, 2 windows to corbelled 1st floor, very narrow bay to right with
window to ground and 1st floor linking to advanced gable at far right; outshot chimneybreast to advanced gable, 3 windows to ground and 1st floor and dormer to left return elevation.
REAR ELEVATION: later additions mask original house, comprising advanced 2-storey bay to left with door and 2 windows to ground floor,
2 windows to 1st, single storey bay to right with piend roof; 2 gables advanced to far right with linking section, various windows.
INTERIOR: not seen.
