Description

William Baillie of Glasgow, 1903. Public Library on open site with 3 "front" elevations (2 of these are near symmetrical); renaissance, with art nouveau detailing. Contrasting grey and red ashlar; windows mostly with small-paned upper sashes; mainly single storey, but built on slope, 2-storey elevation to East End with centre doorway, outer 2-storey canted windows; on left return elevation (also 3 bay) is main entrance- arched doorway with sidelights in centre gable and set at upper level, flanking Venetian windows; stacks; gabled slate roofs.
