Large farmhouse of 3 building periods. Mid 18th century
house with later 18th century projecting wing to N and
large circa 1800, regular 3-bay classical house added to
S front. Random purple rubble with droved grey ashlar
dressings; harling to earlier house, wing and E gables.
S ELEVATION: circa 1800. 3 bays grouped at centre with
pilastered doorpiece; panelled door with decorative
fanlight.
W ELEVATION: steeply pitched gable of earlier house as
centre with windows at ground and 1st floor to left.
Long 2-bay extension recessed to left, with lower eaves
and rounded outer angle. Pentice roofed porch set in
re-entrant angle. Advanced rubble gable of circa 1800
house to right, with single window at ground to left.
Small-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows.
Casements to ground floor window left of porch. Gable
head stacks, with thackstanes to earlier house and
projection slate roof.
INTERIOR: tripartite vestibule door. Ashlar coped rubble
retaining wall and rubble boundary walls.
Whitekirk Mains lies to N, converted to dwellinghouse known as 'Redroofs'. Additional house erected in grounds between Farmhouse and former mains (2005).
