Description

Later 19th century. Single storey gabled L-plan gate lodge.
Squared and snecked cream sandstone, stugged ashlar
dressings; chamfered arrises to openings.
S ELEVATION: 3-bay gabled porch projecting at centre with
decorative pendant; gabled bay to outer right with single
window and blank panel in gablehead. Single window to outer
left.
E ELEVATION: raised gabled bay to left with lead-roofed
canted window.
Variety of small-pane, lying pane, modern and 4-pane glazing
patterns to sash and case windows slate roof. Timber eaves
brackets to overhanging eaves. Tall ashlar ridge stacks with
moulded coping.

Statement of Interest

Possibly derived from designs in Loudon's COTTAGE, FARM AND

VILLA ARCHITECTURE.

Farmhouse to E in similar style (listed separately). Steading

and cottages also listed.
