Circa 1870. Single storey and attic cottage. Pink
sandstone, squared, stugged and snecked with stugged
dressings and chamfered reveals.
S ELEVATION: 3 irregular bays. Gabled outer bay to right,
slightly advanced, with single window at ground and to
attic. Gabled porch set in re-entrant angle; boarded
door with decorative hinges; kingpost.
Single window to outer left bay at ground and in gabled
dormerhead above.
E ELEVATION: advanced gabled bay to left with canted,
lead-roofed window at ground. Single window to right
extension.
N ELEVATION: largely blank gable of N wing to left, with
small window, and service bay recessed to right.
W ELEVATION: gabled end of service projection to left,
larger, taller house gable to right with attic window;
doorway at centre, formerly into small service court,
currently covered.
4-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows. Purple
slates. Timber eaves brackets. Corniced stack at centre.
Possibly by John Farquharson of Haddington, who was working simultaneously on the nearby Whittinghame estate, and whose
design of Eastfield Tenant Farmer's House bears similarities
to Biel Park Cottage.
