Circa 1870. Symmetrical row of 6 single storey and attic
farm cottages. Squared and snecked red sandstone with
cream ashlar dressings; chamfered arrises to openings
and hoodmoulds to windows.
N ELEVATION: pend at centre flanked by doorways, eaves
continuing down over 3 bays in porch form, with
decorative timber brackets, columns and bargeboarding
and balustrades. 2 bays flanking each side with bipartite
windows at ground and gabled attic dormerheads above.
Paired porches to penultimate bays each side, detailed as
above, with doorways behind. Outer bays with bipartite at
ground and gabled attic dormerhead.
Blank end gables.
S ELEVATION: largely blank, with later brick porch
additions. Further modern addition at No 2.
Plate glass and 4-pane glazing patterns to sash and case
windows, 3 velux replacement windows at No 2;
small-pane upper panels to doors and plate glass
fanlights. Red fish-scale tiles and decorative terracotta
ridge tiles and finials. Decorative timber bargeboards and
eaves brackets. Mutual gable and gable end stacks.
Similar cottages at Fenton Barns, North Berwick parish, and
nearby at North Belton Farm, Dunbar parish, listed
separately. Impressive range of cottages, with the common
identity only minimally disturbed.
