Possibly 19th century. Red rubble sandstone circular section
tower at head of well, formerly harled. Circa 16' in height;
timber lintelled doorway to S, circa 4' high. Tower above
apparently solid, with wallhead crumbling.
Sited on high ground to S of Wester Broomhouse Farm, close by
a low rubble wall. The unnecessary height of wellhead requires explanation; perhaps it was to serve as a landmark, possibly
bearing a fire basket.
