Description

Early 19th century. Low 2-storey range fronted by mid 19th
century 2-storey, L-plan house in style of Thomas Mackenzie,
Elgin. Rubble, ashlar dressings. Entrance in re-entrant in
square parapetted porch; rectangular projecting 3-light
ground floor window in advanced gable at right with round-
headed tripartite above. Trellissed verandah; mainly 2- and
lying-pane glazing. Additional entrance in re-entrant angle
of rear and front buildings. Tall clustered stacks; slate
roof.

Statement of Interest

Datestone of 1583 with initials "I M" and armorial shield

built into west part of rear block. Jambs to porch and

windows of mid 19th century block are ashlar monoliths from

Clashach (Hopeman) quarry.
