Late 18th/early 19th century. Symmetrical 2-storey classical mansion house, with low 2-storey wing extending to west; alterations by John Watherston and Sons of Edinburgh circa 1892. Ashlar. East entrance elevation: 3 bays; central door with sidelights and segmental fanlight set behind semi-circular Ionic-columned portico. Flanking windows, with
aprons, recessed in rectangular panels; cill course to 1st floor with central tripartite; cornice; parapet, panelled with urn over central bay, balustraded over outer bays. Single later dormer; 2 symmetrically placed stacks and shallow, piended and platformed slate roof. South elevation: house has 4-bays, ground floor window with aprons, cill course to 1st floor. Symmetrical west wing, possibly incorporating fabric of 18th century building has 5 bays (additional narrow bay links to house) with single door or window openings; tripartites to central bay. Tuscan colonnade supporting 1st floor arcaded balustrade, single dormer; symmetrically placed stacks and slate roof. Low single storey
3-bay service block to west is linked by screen wall to outbuilding and to stable block beyond. Interior: partly remodelled circa 1892. Elliptical entrance hall; cupola over stairs. Panelled doors in moulded
architraves; re-used 18th century chimneypiece.
Built for George Paterson of Cunnoquhie. Agricultural survey of Fife, published 1800, notes Cunnoquhie as one of a group of house which was either wholly built or substantially added to "within the last
24 years".
