Statement of Interest

Mound at rear of house known as 'Lady Duff's tomb'. The

moated mound is possibly an early fort; ruined squared

masonry semi-subterranean structure on top may have been

burial tomb. The Duff family (Earls of Fife) owned Blervie

Castle and surrounding land during later 18th and 19th

centuries. Site of late 18th century distillery; house

probably that of manager and listed Category B for historic

interest. Distillery farms are unusual in terms of

agricultural history.
