Circa 1830/40, Tudorised 1890. Single-storey granite
ashlar 2-window and centre door, 2 masonry dormers, 1 small
centre dormer. Diamond paned glass, broad eaves.
Reconstructed 1969.
The village square was laid out on the axis of the church by
Sir Archibald Grant in 1716 the centre of the square forming a
cattle pound for Banffshire drovers. The original houses were
clay-bound stone thatched with heather. The N.S.A. c XVII p.468 describes it as almost entirely rebuilt of late by the
proprietor. It was gradually Tudorised by Sir Arthur Grant
between 1889 and 1902
