18th century. Double chamber, rectangular plan lectern dovecot. Random rubble (evidence of harl to sides) with droved and plain quoins, stepped rat course/alighting ledge. 2 small doorways to S. Lined with stone nesting boxes.
Now roofless but nesting boxes in good condition.
Pyeston originally belonged to the Lindsay family, passing to Balfours of Balbirnie; the nearby farmhouse has a marriage lintel dated 1768 with the initials J(?)WMW.
