17th century wind pump converted to dovecot 19th century. Circular, raked and battlemented tower. Rubble. Corbelled parapet. Pointed windows. Potence. 365 nest holes.
Property of Wemyss Estate Trustees. Situated at the W boundary of the castle's formal gardens, the wind pump is clearly depicted in a view of Wemyss Castle and Harbour by John Van Sypen of 1718. High up on the cliffs above the shoreline, the wind pump raised water from an old pit below.
