Description

Chalybeate well where Robert Burns bathed in 1796 during his
last illness. Roughly L-plan, existing rubble retaining walls
built in present form in 20th century.

Statement of Interest

Listed for historic importance.

For further on Burns and his visit to Brow Well see Robert

Thornton, WILLIAM MAXWELL to ROBERT BURNS, 1979. (Maxwell of

Kirkconnell was Burns' friend and physician, on whose advice

Burns bathed here).
