James Barbour of Dumfries, architect. Built 1863. Single
storey, Scottish Baronial gate lodge. L-plan. Bull-faced
white granite ashlar, with red sandstone ashlar dressings and
crow steps. North elevation: off-centre porch and linking
left bay both advanced and gabled, segmental-headed,
roll-moulded doorway in former, tripartite in latter;
crenellated bartisan over north east angle; 2-bay east
elevation, bipartite in asymmetrically corbelled gable to
right. Windows have small diamond panes. Slated roofs. Modern
rear additions.
Coped quadrant walls, chamfered square gatepiers with
pyramidal caps all white granite.
