Description

Earlier 19th century. Former stables and haybarn now

converted to form 2-storey house; single storey cottage row

to east linked by screen wall. Stugged and squared red rubble

with ashlar dressings; all roofed with graded slates.

Stables: rectangular-plan, with gable to roadside; 2 south

most bays not original. Few alterations to openings, but

plate glass glazing throughout. 2 cartways (one slightly

altered) at north end of east wall, forestair alongside with cantilevered platt; slit ventilators at south below wall-head

stack. Basement door in south gable below inserted bipartite.

Cottages: 3-bay cottage to east with central door and 12-pane

glazing, west end perhaps originally stables now converted to

form 2 2-bay cottages, with inserted margined openings and

blocked slit ventilator. Boarded doors with fanlights; sash

windows, 12-pane glazing at east, other windows with larger

panes. Straight skews; coped end stacks (2 brick wall-head

stacks at south); boarded loft door in west gable; main roof

swept at south over full width rear wing of 3-bay cottage.
