Description

Later 19th century. 5-bay cartshed raised from earlier
rubble single storey building and sited on falling ground.
Squared and snecked red rubble sandstone with stugged
ashlar dressings. 5 segmental cart-arches to E elevation
with regular rectangular hayloft windows above each
opening; outer left arch with boarded doors. Hayloft
windows also on W elevation with line of former wall
apparent below. Forestair to hayloft door on S gable
end. Line of former gable evidence on N gable end with
wallhead stack. Boarded floor to hayloft, and S arch
boarded off from its neighbours. Purple slates with
skylights; coped skews.

Statement of Interest

Listed category C(S) as a typical and intact example of

post-improvement farm buildings in East Lothian.
