Founded before 1198 by Gilbert Earl of Stratherne and his
wife Matildis. Slight remains of W. range of monastic
buildings only: c. 1200, 97'7" long, walls standing to a
height of up to 7', partly buried in earth and debris, except
at N. end where one plain barrel vault entered by remains of
a doorway formerly with nookshafts and the gable (upper parts
rebuilt 16th or early 17th century) remain. Site much buried
and overgrown.
