Description

Built 1835. 2-storey 3-bay farmhouse with gabled,
full-height, single bay, rear wing. Harled, with contrasting
painted ashlar margins. West elevation: piended central porch
with door in re-entrant angle. 12-pane sash and case windows
(4-pane central 1st floor). Single bay flanks. Symmetrically
placed axial stacks; piended slate roof. Modern sun lounge
to south east.
Set within quadrangular garden enclosure; rubble-built
gatepiers and walls, latter partly renewed in brick towards
east beside modern office; square gatepiers to west with
pyramidal caps.

Statement of Interest

Letting advertisement dated 1844 held in Lochboisdale Hotel

describes Askernish House as "lately ... erected". Former

Steading (1846) ranges to east not included in listing.
