Description

DAFS (Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland) two up/two down type house, completed 1940. Traditional stone-built, attic windows break through eaves and have piended dormer heads; centre door, timber-mullioned two-light outer windows, modern glazing (previously sashes with eight-pane glazing pattern).

Skews; end stacks; replacement slate roof (previously asbestos tiles and prior to that, graded slates). Door also on otherwise blank rear wall.

Statement of Interest

The detached, single-storey building to the rear (11B) is of modern construction, with some stones from an earlier building embedded in the external walls. It was built in the 1980s on the footprint of the previous blackhouse which was later used as a byre (2022). This was built/rebuilt around 1921 and was noted as being 'recently demolished' in the original listed building record (1988).

Statutory address and listed building record revised in 2022. Previously listed as '11 Reef'.
