Description

Early to earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house, one of

terraced pair. N elevation rendered, E elevation painted rubble. Painted margins, quoin strips and base course.

N (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: broad pedimented bay slightly advanced at centre; surmounted by heavy moulded finial set on square plinth. Panelled door with fanlight at centre. Regularly disposed fenestration; enlarged window in bay to left at ground floor.

E ELEVATION: gabled and blank.

W ELEVATION: adjoined to No 36 Main Street, Crown Inn (see separate listing).

4-pane glazing in sash and case windows; fixed plate glass glazing in enlarged window. Red sandstone coped mutual skew to NW. Broad gablehead stacks, harled to E, painted rubble and mutual to W. Modern tiles.

Statement of Interest

No 38 Main Street is shown on the "Plan of ... the village of

Glenluce" of 1835. Rear extension approved 1994.
