Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 8-bay rectangular-plan granary with vehicle access, at right angles to street. Opposite former market ground. Random rubble with ashlar dressings. 3 large wooden sliding doors at ground floor, divided by, 2 mirrored stone forestairs to loading doorways at 1st floor breaking eaves in gabled dormerheads. Platt of forestairs cantilevered out to facilitate loading. 6 small windows to granary at 1st floor. Boarded doors and shutters. Blue-grey slates, ashlar ridge and coped skews, end stack to N.

Statement of Interest

Probably had something to do with the market ground, and Slaughter houses further to the E. Aberchirder was an important local market centre (OSA 1792, NSA 1836 Groome 1892). Change of use to office and store approved, 1991.
