Description

Dated 1843, with later additions. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan Inn with attached 2-storey outbuilding to SW. Squared and snecked whinstone rubble with painted quoins and coursed rubble to sides and rear. Eaves course, 1st floor cill course.

SE ELEVATION: symmetrical. Projecting porch (modern) with timber door, below date panel at centre, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration at 1st floor.

NW ELEVATION: ground floor obscured by harled, flat-roofed extension (not included in this listing), stair window at centre and windows to outer bays at 1st floor.

NE ELEVATION: window to outer right at ground and broad gablehead stack.

SW ELEVATION: adjoining, pitch-roofed outbuilding below broad gablehead stack.

12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows except ground left to SE with plate glazing to upper sash and blocked lower sash. Modern concrete tiles, coped ashlar stacks and ashlar coped skews.

OUTBUILDING: slightly lower, 2-storey, 5-bay, L-plan outbuilding on ground sloping to SW and NW; rubble with sandstone quoins; graded grey slates.

SE ELEVATION: timber door in bays to right of centre and to outer right with low door to left of centre; 1st floor with small, timber-lintelled windows at centre and in bay to right of centre, wide door (hay loft opening) to outer left.

SW ELEVATION: blank.

NW ELEVATION: advanced gable to right with timber-lintelled, part-glazed timber garage door at centre, small centre window at gablehead over painted 'CREE'S INN'. Recessed face to left with modern, lean-to garage extension in re-entrant angle to right and further extension to left (neither included in this listing).

BOUNDARY WALLS: semi-circular-coped rubble boundary walls to SE.
