Early 19th century. 2-storey with basement and attic, 2-bay rectangular-plan house. Painted render. Base course; block cornice; strip quoins. Painted window surrounds.
NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to deeply recessed off-centre arched entrance; 2-leaf timber door; plain tympanum to arched head; small single window aligned above at 1st floor; blocked basement opening to left; single window aligned above at ground floor. Timber door to walled entrance to outer left.
NW (SIDE) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Regular fenestration at basement, ground and 1st floors (basement blocked). 3 irregularly aligned dormers at attic (central dormer bipartite).
12-pane timber sash and case windows (plate glass and 4-pane at attic, textured glazing to window above entrance). Grey slate roof; stone skews; coped gablehead stacks; circular cans (to left stack only).
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
Large early 19th century building in the predominantly smaller residential scale of Academy Street, which links the two main thoroughfares of Sandgate and Fort Street. Interesting entrance elevation, with off-centre doorpiece.
