Earlier 19th century, with later additions. Single storey, T-plan Jacobean-detailed, gabled lodge. Squared sandstone. Base course; ball finials to gables.
SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 2-bay. Advanced gabled entrance porch to right; square-headed opening; square plaque aligned above. Stone-roofed canted bay to left; plaque to gablehead.
NW (DOONFOOT ROAD) ELEVATION: bipartite window to left; tripartite window to gabled section to right; small arrowslit opening to gable.
NE (REAR) ELEVATION: 2 window openings to lean-to.
SE (SIDE) ELEVATION: single window to outer left; 2 single windows to gablehead to left, small arrowslit opening to gable; 2 openings to later advanced section to right; square-headed entrance to lean-to to outer right.
Timber windows (predominately reinforced/boarded). Slate roof; stone skews; diagonally shafted stacks; circular cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen 1999.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALL: 2 pairs of octagonal coped gatepiers; urn finials surmounting. Curved wing walls.
B-Group with 57 Doonfoot Road (North Lodge), South Lodge Bridge crossing Slaphouse Burn, Belleisle House Hotel, Greenhouse and Walled Garden (see separate listings). Gate lodge providing access to Belleisle (see separate list description) notable for its stone-roofed canted bay (SW elevation) and Jacobean detailing.
