Early 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay tenement with ground floor shop. Painted ashlar. 2nd floor cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architraves to 1st and 2nd floor windows; continuous apron panel to 1st floor windows, shallower to 2nd floor.
NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: entrances with fanlights (altered), flank central shop window; original consoled shopfront; mutuled cornice. Mutual close to outer right (No 21) with Nos 17-19 (see separate list description). Regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors; consoled cornice to central 1st floor window.
Modern 12-pane timber sash and case windows at 1st and 2nd floors. Grey slate roof; stone skews; coped apex stacks; circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
At the beginning of the High Street, Nos 23 and 25 set the pattern for much of the street, with the facade based on the old rigg frontages of domestic accommodation over ground floor commercial uses. Mutual cill course, eaves course, cornice and blocking course with Nos 11-15 (Odd Nos) and 17-21 (Odd Nos) (see separate list descriptions).
