John Murdoch, 1870. 2-storey and attic, 4-bay paired villa, with single and 2-storey extensions to outer right and left. Ashlar. Base course; 1st floor cill course; eaves course; cornice; blocking course.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: coupled fluted columns to central recessed porch; 2-leaf timber doors and fanlights; round-arched balustraded parapet above; 2 single windows at 1st floor; flat roofed dormer at attic. Regular fenestration to flanking canted bays at ground and 1st floor; flat roofed dormer at attic to right. Timber door and single window to outer left; single windows at ground and 1st floor to outer right.
Predominantly plate glass and 4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; stone skews; coped gablehead and pitch stacks; circular cans.
INTERIORS: not seen 1998.
BOUNDARY WALL: low coped boundary wall enclosing entrance elevation; modern gatepiers, gates and railings.
Miller Place (as it was originally named, after Provost Hugh Miller) was laid out as turnpike road in 1846, but houses were not erected until the 1850s/1860s.
