Description

Dated 1863, Peddie and Kinnear. Former bank building, mixed

early Italian and Jacobethan motifs. 3-storey, square-plan,

set back from street within railed area, second floor windows ball-finialled dormerheads in piended slated roof with

bracketted rhone - cornice. Snecked rubble with ashlar

dressings recessed angles. Swan Street elevation 3-window,

central door with bracketted cornice and 2 bipartites with

stilted lintels, column mullions with sculptured capitals,

similar bipartites at outer bays of 1st floor, all other

openings shouldered and stop - chamfered; Clerk Street

elevation 3 window, centre 2nd in wallhead chimney gablet,

later 2-storey back wing projection extending out to

pavement, 2-window (1 bipartite) elevation, roof piended at

s. angle, cornice and deep plain parapet; west elevation

1-window only centred under wallhead chimney, 1st floor

window balconied. Single-storey pebble-dashed rear addition

at right angles, porch with cornice and deep plain parapet

in angle.
