Description

1842. Large late classical hotel building with some
neo-Jacobean details. 3-storey and basement painted with
margins. W. section of frontage 3-window front with centre
Roman Doric column porch flanked by 2-storey canted bays,
Jacobean dormerheads 2nd floor; E section broad asymmetrical
gable front, 1 window on left (ground floor window consoled)
canted bay through ground and first floor on right,
tripartite at 2nd; E front asymmetrical canted bay through
ground and 1st floors on left, altered tripartite window
above, 2-window gable on right with ground floor windows
consoled. Chimneyheads unfortunately removed. Original
glazing preserved but general appearance spoiled by
alterations at W. gable, lift shaft, removal of chimneys.
Large stone-built late Victorian bay windowed addition with
tourelle feature at NE.
