Description

W Birnie Rhind, RSA, 1924-5. Tall squared angle-pilastered
polished ashlar plinth on shaped and stepped base; corniced
entablature supports 2 bronze figures, one kneeling seaman
and one standing soldier with banner. Bronze plaques on each
face of plinth commemorate fallen of 1914-18 and 1939-54 wars.
Memorial enclosed by cast-iron bollards with gilded caps
linked by chains. Simple pedestrian entrance closed by
cast-iron gates with crosses.

Statement of Interest

John Kinross, architect, Edinburgh may have collaborated

over design of plinth.
