Description

Late 19th century. Pair of 2-storey, 2-bay, semi-detached houses with platform/mansard roof and Queen Anne details. Squared and coursed rubble with rusticated ashlar quoins, ashlar margins, base course, eaves course, basket-arched and stop-chamfered arrises, stone mullions.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Panelled doors with plate glass fanlight to left and right of centre with ornately carved segmental pediments, canted windows in flanking bays; 1st floor windows above doors with segmental pediments, bipartites with regular pediments above outer bays, all breaking eaves into mansard.

6-pane glazing pattern to upper sashes over 2-pane lower in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with some cans, ashlar coped skews and cast-iron downpipes with decorative rainwater hoppers and fixtures.

BOUNDARY WALL: low saddleback-coped rubble boundary wall to S.

Statement of Interest

Nos 125-7 were originally an identical pair but glazing alterations have marred their interest.
