Description

Mid to later 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay lodge house, altered at side and rear. Piend-roofed with high stack, round-headed door and doorcase. Squared and snecked stone with dressed ashlar quoins and stone cills, rubble to S; base course, continuous hoodmould stugged course, moulded eaves cornice and segmental headed openings.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Panelled door at centre with windows in flanking bays, slightly recessed single storey lean-to extension with window to right abutting boundary wall, chamfered corner to left below hoodmould course.

4-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with cans, distinctive cast-iron ivy-leaf gutter brackets.

GATEPIER AND BOUNDARY WALL: pyramid-coped gatepier and coped rubble boundary wall.

Statement of Interest

Courtyard and converted stables listed separately (No 49 Kirkbank Road). Former lodge to Greenmount House.
