Probably late 17th early 18th century building occupying much
older site. Rectangular house now decaying and partly used as
garage with wide vehicle access opened to ground.
Rubble walling with battered boulder basecourse, some quoins
of squared whinstone. Red sandstone margins to unaltered
openings with 45 degree chamfer at ground left and centre
1st. Doorway also original with relieving arch above. Other
1st floor windows enlarged probably in 19th-century. At
ground right, wide vehicle access with brick jambs and timber
lintel.
Rear elevation rubble. Sandstone skews, slate roofs.
Interior much altered, flooring in dangerous condition.
Traditionally Mary Queen of Scots was said to have lodged at
the House of Fuffnock on her journey to Port Mary in 1568,
the present building is probably on the site of the original
house.
