Description

Mediaeval origin, much repaired and reconstructed at subsequent periods, particularly after 1689 and c.1745-60; west pier 1826-8 Robert Stevenson, engineer; Pierhead rebuilt 1871. Small, tidal rubble-built, largely in vertical courses.
