Description

David Baxter (inscribed J and B, Johnston and Baxter) 1903. 2-storey bank. Ashlar Baroque frontage with hammer-dressed rubble S side.

STREET ELEVATION: 3-bay; central 3-light ground floor window with fluted Ionic mullions and wrought-iron railings, 1st floor single light in consoled broken and open segmental pediment with cartouche inscribed Dundee Savings Bank. Flanking engaged giant composite columns and rusticated pilaster strips carry open pediment. Single curved bays to each side. Open and broken segmental pediments over arched entrance with mask keystone at left, single-light windows at right. 1st floor round-arched keystoned windows. Dentil cornice and balustrade.

N ELEVATION: architraved windows, 4 corniced at ground floor, 3 1st floor with cill course. Wallhead stack.

INTERIOR: modern.
