Presumably by Walter Newall. Circa 1820 with heavy
finialed urns (?added circa 1907). Gatepiers, carriage
gate between piers flanked by concave tall quadrants
linking outer piers, fifth pier at W beyond pedestrian
gate. Polished red ashlar. Piers all octagonal, with
corniced caps, urns over 2 inner piers. Good decorative
cast-iron gates backed by steel plates.
Built as gate to Laurel Mount, now Mount St Michael's.
Similar urns to piers at Beattock Inn thought to have been
added circa 1907.
