Description

Earlier 19th century late Georgian terrace set back from
road. 3 main building phases, Nos 8-14 built first, No 22
built last. 2 storeys with basements. No 22 has 2 bays;
other houses 3 bays with central door. Droved red ashlar
with pilastered doorpieces and with projecting 1st floor cills;
now mostly painted. Panelled doors (except No 12) with
fanlights (Nos 16, 18 and 20 with arched doorways), steps
with iron handrails; mainly single windows, originally with
12-pane glazing pattern; Nos 16 and 20 with full-height canted
windows, No 22 with ground floor tripartite. Base course;
eaves course; cornice; dormers (except at Nos 12, 14, 18);
straight skews; end stacks; slate roofs. Small front gardens
with original railings removed; 2 square rusticated ashlar
piers to No 22. Plainer rear elevations, some houses with
wallhead gables, some with forestairs.
