David Cousin, 1849. 2-storey 3-bay rectangular-plan subdivided villa with classical detail, addition to N (1901), single storey modern additions to rear. Cream sandstone, stugged ashlar front with polished dressings, squared and snecked stugged rubble to rear and sides with stugged dressings. Base course; architraved and corniced windows (bracketed cornices to 1st floor windows); bracketted cills; eaves cornice; overhanging eaves.
E (FRONT) ELEVATION: architraved doorway at centre with shallow pilastered porch, frieze and blocking course, 2-leaf door; bipartite window at 1st floor above. Single windows to ground and 1st floor of outer bays and to slightly recessed single bay addition to right.
W (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-bay with full-height canted window to left bay. Secondary door to centre bay. Single storey extension to left with later flat-roofed concrete addition; single windows at 1st floor; small central wallhead stack.
S ELEVATION: rubble-built forestair with small closed porch; short central wallhead stack.
N ELEVATION_: short central wallhead stack.
Timber sash and case windows, mostly 2-pane upper sashes, 4-pane lower sashes (replacement windows to rear canted window). Slate piend roof with metal flashings; 3 wallhead stacks (see above), some tall square coped cans. Moulded eaves gutters.
INTERIOR: not seen 1992.
Tall rubble wall with semi-circular coping to rear and sides, low rubble wall to front, cast-iron gates (2 pedestrian, 1 carriage) and railings (later replacements).
The house was built by architect David Cousin for himself. Now subdivided into three flats.
